Europe finds itself in a critical era, where the need for sustained economic growth, coupled with commitment to climate action and sustainability call for transformative solutions. With the much-anticipated Biotech Act II, the EU has one more opportunity to lead the way by making biosolutions - innovative, nature-based technologies - a cornerstone of industrial policy.
Today, the European Biosolutions Coalition publishes a position paper, highlighting that biosolutions can accelerate the green transition and create sustainable jobs across the Union with the right policy support.
Biosolutions are vital to reducing dependence on fossil resources and improving the global competitiveness of European businesses. We therefore urge policymakers to seize this momentum: invest in science-based innovation, remove regulatory barriers, and make sure that a cross-sectoral approach including food, agriculture, materials and chemicals are at the heart of the Biotech Act II.
Together, we can lay the foundation for a more sustainable, resilient, and innovative EU.
