As the global race for biosolutions heats up, Europe finds itself at a critical juncture. While China, the United States and other regions are rapidly advancing their biotech and biomanufacturing industries through strategic investments and streamlined regulations, Europe has the slowest regulatory system among our competitor regions, risking our position as a leader in this sector.
The European Biosolutions Coalition – a collaboration of leading industry organizations in 13 European countries – calls for a broad and ambitious Biotech Act encompassing all relevant sectors, such as food and feed, bio-based chemicals, plastics and materials (incl. materials for construction), agriculture, life science as well as industrial, environmental, and marine biotechnology to address this. This policy paper is our position on the EU Biotech Act.
